Why Plico

Many PDF tools send your files to a server. Plico does the work on your PC.

Your files stay with you

No upload, no account, no internet connection needed. Useful for contracts, invoices, medical and personal documents.

All pages at a glance

See every page as a thumbnail and rearrange them with drag and drop. Long documents with hundreds of pages stay responsive.

The original is safe

Your file is only changed when you save. Every page operation can be undone, and saving is checked before the file is replaced.

What you can do today

These features are available in the current version of the app.

  • Organize pages

    Reorder pages with drag and drop, rotate, delete, duplicate, extract them to a new PDF or insert pages from another file. Multi-level undo and redo.

  • Merge

    Combine several PDF files into one, in the order you choose.

  • Split

    Split by page ranges, every N pages, odd or even pages, into single pages, or extract a selection.

  • Compress

    Three levels. Recompresses the JPEG images in the PDF and leaves text and vector graphics untouched. Optional grayscale. Shows the size before and after.

  • Images to PDF

    JPG, PNG, BMP, WebP and multi-page TIFF. Choose page size, orientation, fit and margins.

  • PDF to images

    Export all pages or a selection as PNG, JPEG or TIFF, with the resolution and quality you need.

  • Watermark

    Text watermark with font, size, opacity and rotation. Nine positions or tiled across the page, in front of or behind the content.

  • Header, footer and page numbers

    Add page numbers, page count, file name and date in six independent positions.

  • Crop and metadata

    Crop pages without deleting content. View, edit or clear title, author, subject and keywords.

  • Smart Fill New

    Opens a PDF form, recognizes its fields and suggests values from your personal profile. You check every value before saving. Declarations and signatures are never filled in for you.

  • Batch processing New

    Compress, watermark, number pages, remove document information, export to images or split many PDF files at once, including whole folders. Existing files are never overwritten, and failed files can be retried.

Frequently asked questions

Why does Windows show a warning when I install Plico?

The beta is not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen does not recognize the publisher. Click More info, then Run anyway. If you want to check the file, compare its SHA-256 with the published checksums.

How do updates work?

At startup Plico checks whether a new version is available. If there is one, it asks before downloading and installing it. You can turn the check off in Settings › About. The portable version does not update itself.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Plico opens, edits and saves files only on your computer.

How do I merge PDF files without uploading them?

Open Merge in Plico, add the PDF files, drag them into the order you want and save. The files are combined on your PC, without an internet connection.

Can I compress a PDF offline?

Yes. Compress offers three levels and recompresses the JPEG images in the PDF on your computer, leaving text and vector graphics untouched. It shows the size before and after.

Do I need an internet connection or an account?

No account is needed, and all features work offline. Only the optional update check uses the internet.

Is it free?

Yes, the public beta is free with all features. Paid plans for professional features will come later; details are not defined yet.

Which versions of Windows are supported?

Windows 10 and Windows 11, 64-bit. Plico installs for your user and does not need administrator rights.

Can Plico edit the text of a PDF or recognize scanned text?

Not yet. Editing existing text is not available. OCR for scanned documents is planned.

Which languages does the app support?

English and Italian. By default it follows the language of Windows, and you can change it in Settings without restarting.
